My 3000 is only about 3 weeks old and seems to lock up alot and not shut down properly. I end up having to turn it off myself and I'm told that's not good for it. This usually happens when accessing coumpuserve or AOL. By the way, is having both on there a bad thing? Also, when my son uses instant messenger, things seem to be worse. Is that just my imagination? Sometimes, the fan seems to get louder. Does that mean it's getting hot?

I'm ready to throw it out the window!- I have the same problem with my new E520. When I consulted Dell about this they suggested shuffling round SATA leads, and helpfully sent me a diagram of the inside of a 9200 to help me! The problem is still not solved. What astonished me is that Dell admit this is a common problem with their computers yet they still keep selling them with this fault. Worse still, if I buy a faulty vacuum cleaner I can return it to the shop and get a refund - but Dell won't consider a refund as I didn't instal the computer within the first few days. I am now left with a non-functional new computer that Dell will not/ cannot mend.
- I am having the same problem. I bought my E520 back in May 2007. It started when I could not use my Dell all in one printer to fax. I could fax out but not recieve faxes. Everytime I called I am on the line with a rep for at least 4 hours. no lie. I had to change the card location. We thought that was making the system lock up. Dell keeps telling me to delete my temp internet folder... lol... that isnt the problem... they cant seem to find out what it is.. they keep saying its the printer and the printer dept keeps saying its the hardware dept. I keep getting the run around. I have a 3 year extended warranty since I work on my computer as a telecommuter on a daily basis. I asked them to send a new computer or send someone out to fix it. This is totally unacceptable... I havent heard back from them yet. I did however, get some free ink from them... I am soooo frustrated.

Have you updated any drivers or added anything to your PC since you received it? Sometimes a brand new PC can be fixed by opening up the case and making sure all of the cards, drive ribbons, memory chips, and electrical connections are properly seated from the factory. Also make sure that all the fans are working as heat will lock these up.
