Screen trouble

I'm running Windows XP on my Dimension 4600C.  After using the computer for a few hours, my screen will go into a series of horizontal bars.  They are tilted slightly, and they are the color of the window I'm working in (for example, if I'm working with the default setup, they will be blue like the top part of the window, but if I'm watching a DVD full screen, they will be black).  I also have a video card running on my computer, and it's whichever one was issued with my computer.
I'm almost positive that the problem isn't my monitor, since it's the same one I used with my old system, and I never had any trouble with it, but it's also by Dell, and it came with my Dimension 4300.
Lastly, the visual feed seems to be the only thing that I'm losing, since audio will continue to function even though I can't see the screen, and I'm able to hit Ctrl+S to save a document I'm working in before having to turn it off and restart it.
Any clues?

    catbratic,

    The 4600C came with onboard video. Try this driver and see if it fixes the issue.

    * Click Intel 82865G Graphics Controller
    * Click your operating system
    * Click Go!
    * Click the latest Graphics Driver
    * Next to English, click the file
    * Click Download (recommended site)
    * Click Save
    * Click the Desktop icon
    * Click Save
    * Double click the downloaded file from your desktop. Follow any prompts to install the driver

    Thank you!

    I will let you know how that works.  I can't predict the failures, but I'll see how it turns out, or if it recurs.

    Really?  I tried re-installing the driver, and I thought I had fixed it...until last night, when it died again.  For the love of God, though, if you find something that works, please do share!

    I haven't been able to narrow anything down yet. I have been looking through the boards here to see if anyone else is having the same problem. The computer is a year and a half old now but the problem just started cropping up recently. If I find anything I will definately post back.

    I heard a lot of people complaining about the same problem, and I promised to post my solution, so here it is:
    Basically, all you have to do is clear the nvram
    Enter the BIOS, clear configuration data, and then reset defaults.
    1. Press the < F2 > key during the POST process at the Dell splash
    screen.
    The System Setup (BIOS) screen opens.
    2. Press the < Caps Lock >, < Scroll Lock >, and the < Num Lock > keys.
    All three keyboard indicator lights turn on.
    3. Press the < Alt > and < F > keys at the same time.
    The computer issues a beep.
    4. Press the < Alt > and < E > keys at the same time.
    The computer issues a beep.
    5. Press the < Alt > and < B > keys at the same time.
    The BIOS saves settings and the computer restarts.
