D600 SXGA+ Resolution

I've been given a new D600 for work and all's well except for the resolution of the internal LCD, apparently it is a SXGA+ but it's max resolution is 1024*768.

Having read through the forums there seems to be a lot of people asking the same questions and the answer always seems to be 'xga or sxga+?' yet nobody offers a solution.

How about (a) explaining to people how to figure out which they have and (b) explaining a solution.

    Check the service tag at support.dell.com - it should list the parts included.

    1024X768 max means you've got an XGA display.

    The SXGA+ native resolution is 1400X1050.

    Go to support.dell.com, enter the service tag, and in the bottom dropdown, choose the Original System Configuration.  It will tell you what the system came equipped with.

    mmm, sadly I havnt een able to find the spec list as yet, I've put my service tag in but cant seem to find a link to the specs of my order.

    One easy way to find out what type of LCD panel you have, is to look in the BIOS.

    Press F2 when you boot up your laptop to get into the BIOS, on the first screen of the BIOS it will list the type of LCD panel you have under "Panel Type". Since your max resolution is 1024x768, you most likely have an XGA LCD Panel.
