Dothan vs. Sonoma?
Is the Intel Sonoma chip (730 1.6 GHZ,2mb,533 FSB the same as the Dothan? A friend has an Inspiron 6000D with the spec/order sheet reading as follows: " Part No. W4773, Processor, 80536,Pentium M Dothan, 1.6Ghz, 2mb, 533 FSB, Plastic Grid array, C0." The ship date on this unit was 4/22/05 and I was just wondering if this has the latest Sonoma chip or not. (He's selling..............needs the money. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dothan in the new Pentium M and Celeron M, 400 or 533 FSB. 2 MB cache.
Banias is the old Pentium M and Celeron M, all have 400 FSB. 1 MB cache.
Sonoma (915) is the new mobile chip set. 400 or 533 FSB. DDR or DDR2 RAM. PCI Express.
Carmel (855) is the old mobile chip set. 400 FSB. DDR. AGP.
Centrino systems will have...
- Intel mobile chip set
- Intel Pentium M or Celeron M processor

Thanks for the quick reply. That's what I thought too. But I am looking at the system information sheet for the his Inspiron 6000D, Ship date of 4/22/05. It says it is 533 FSB. It reads as follows:
" Part # W4773: PROCESSOR, 80536, PENTIUM M DOTHAN, Pentium M Dothan, 1.6GHZ, 2 MEGB, 533FSB, PLASTIC GRID ARRAY, C0"
I'm confused.........to say the least. Any thoughts? Thanks.
