Hyper Threading fact or fiction?
I just ordered a new system, and paid an extra $40 for a HT P4. I see a lot of conflicting reports about HT. Can someone clear up some of these things I've heard:
1) Hyper Threading P4's are slower than non-HT P4's when running single apps, or multiple apps that can't take advanatge of HT.
2) Simply disabling HT in the Bios will not make any performance difference when running single apps unless you reinstall Windows XP with HT disabled in the bios, since once XP sees HT, it loads services for it, even if it's disabled.

1) False. In fact, when running multiple apps, a processor with HT will be faster 99.9% of the time.
2) False - there are no 'services for HT', so there is nothing for the system to load or not load.
