I am having a simliar problem to yours. I believe that the problem is the female connector on my Dell laptop. I used to be an electronics tec, and we often saw this problem on different devices. You may have read about similar problems with Dell laptops. Some of the higher series users are having a different problem: they were issued the incorrect power adapter. You should check this too, but I believe that this isn't your problem. Look on the power adapter you were issued. Then look at the bottom of your laptop. Both should read identical power requirements. In my case, the Inspiron 1000 requires 19v    3.16a. If the values are different for your adapter and the laptop, then Dell may have sent you the wrong adapter.

I checked my power adapter and it's the right one. I read a lot of the posts about the 1150 and it seems like the motherboard is the usual cause.

I hope you're still under warranty. I contacted them, and they're having me send my system in so they can look at power adapter connection on the motherboard. Good luck with your issue.
