Insipron 1150 Power Problem
My problem sounds similar to those posted by others but slightly different. Here is a bit of history with this computer:
Previous issues causing a power problem:
1. A/C adapter died and was replaced under warranty.
2. Hard drive failed and was replaced for random shutdowns
3. Wireless network card was grounding out on the motherboard (had to return for repairs)
4. The power adapter died a second time (out of warranty) and tried ordering the one off the dell website. recieved it and it was not the right one.. spent a total of 12 hours contacting and talking to dell to get it returned and could never get a correct part number to order
5. Most recent problem... computer shut itself off last night. today i got it turned on finally and it was fine for a few minutes. then it switched to battery power even though the a/c power was plugged in. then the battery showed 1 minute left and then turned itself off. Now it will not turn on. I have a flashing green a/c power light and flashing orange battery charge light. fan is powered off. a/c power verified good.
any ideas????

I checked my power adapter and it's the right one. I read a lot of the posts about the 1150 and it seems like the motherboard is the usual cause.RobertCrabtree

I hope you're still under warranty. I contacted them, and they're having me send my system in so they can look at power adapter connection on the motherboard. Good luck with your issue.RobertRoadshow Bob

my warranty ran out in April. So i'm basically stuck for a while on this one..I have an Inspiron 1000 that is 14 months old. My A/C power supply cuts in and out. Then the
battery runs out, and it cuts off.
I just spent $51.00(counting S&H) on a new adapter kit from Dell, and it's still doing it.
I have found when I wiggle the plug where it goes into the back of my laptop, my a/c light comes
back on. The connection seems to move when I wiggle it. Also when the battery icon is on, the
light of the computer screen is brighter than when it's on A/C power.
Is this the usual thing that everybody else is having? Surely not a motherboard problem after only
14 months.
