memory upgrade questions
hi!! I have an Inspiron 155 5110 which has 4G memory installed from the factory. I use this laptop to record music through Cubase. I need to install more memory since Cubase is a resource hog! Can anyone tell me how the factory card(s) are configured (ie. 1 4G card, 2 2G cards, 4 1G cards) and how many slots are available for me to install more memory. And also what is the maximum allowable memory for this computer? thanks in advance!!

Thanks for your responses! Just to recap, if I want to upgrade to 8G, i ned 2 4G cards and then both available slots will be at capacity...? And what comes factory installed? 2 2G cards? and lastly, is there a particular type/brand that is required Or recommended?
thanks again!!

Hi gtrjunior,
Yes your system came with 2gb each. I have mentioned the type of RAM that is installed on your system. You can buy the same specification but check for compatibility before buying.

Hi gtrjunior,
The maximum amount of memory that can be installed on this system is 8 GB i.e 4gb on each slot. So there are two slots on this system. The Inspiron N5110 / 15R system supports dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM with memory speeds of 1333 MHz. For more information on how to install memory you can punch in the service tag in this link http://dell.to/19zbTzI and download the manual. Let me know if you need anything.
