Problem ..XPS 13

I have the new xps 13 just bought it .. About 2 months ago. It worked perfectly until earlier this day when i was waking it up and pressed the power button accidently. Now the labtop is still working but nothing apears on the screen and the keyboard is lit. I tried to to force it to close but it didn't work. Please help

    Hi Lariq8,

    Let's try the following steps:

    Run the LCD BIST. To run the LCD BIST (Built in Self-test):
    Note: While initiating LCD BIST, ensure that the AC adapter is connected to the computer. LCD BIST does not run when the computer is running only on battery 

    • Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) from the computer
    • Remove the adapter
    • Press and hold the power button till the computer shuts off
    • Connect the adapter
    • Press and Hold the letter on your keyboard and then turn on your computer
    • This will initiate a Grey screen, then Red, then Blue, then Green

    I would also recommend you to try to run the on-board diagnostics:

    • Power off the computer
    • Restart the computer, press F12 on the Dell logo
    • Select ‘Diagnostics’ from the boot menu

    Hey thanks man, well i waited till the battery ran out and turned it back on now it works.

    But the thing is that i couldn't force the labtop to shutdown which was terrifying. Any way i'll do the diagnostic check.

    Hi Lariq8 My laptop (only bought in sept 2012) 17inch Inspiron has just restarted due to installing the latest version of iTunes...only, it didn't restart properly, it switched on with a black screen and the Dell icon and then just went black. I pressed enter and it has a time bar and F12 boot options in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, I press F12 and nothing happens...I have turned it off by pressing the power button and tried to boot it up several times, same thing happens again. I have powered off, taken battery, tried your initial diagnostics (coloured screen thing-which works) but can't seem to get into my computer? Any ideas? Thanks Lucy
