Recent problems, on a long term issue. no vga drivers will install
Let me start that I should have resolved the issue when it first came up. However at the time, Ii had recently bought a desktop and was migrating towards using that as my main workstation. Thus throwing the laptop on the back burner.
With that being said, about a year after Ii original bought my laptop my original monitor died on me. ( it started to white at the edges when told to standby and eventually going completely white when powered up. This was an issue with the wire placement above the keyboard causing the wire to short out, and eventually striping the wires bare.) Because of this problem i called tech support at dell and being that i was under warranty when this originally occurred I was shipped a new monitor and wire harness. This simple transaction has become the bane of my laptop. It no longer accept updates to the drivers of the video card (thank you ATI) and it no longer updates the drives for the monitor, VGA, and a handful of other important visual aspects of the computer. Being as that i have left my desktop home for the remainder of the semester, I have decided to use my laptop as my main and only computer. But being as the display is unable to even render web pages without lag, and when you move from application to application it ghosts worse than a monitor with a 32ms response time. I remember back when this thing worked that it wasn't half bad. Currently id rather use this thing as a wedge in a doorway, or just scrap it for a server entirely.
basically i am asking if there is a way in which you can update your ATI video card drivers, by getting a VGA installed. as of now i have been unable to find anything on-line to fix this( they all have there different ways, none of which work.)
laptop specs for those of you who want to see everything:
pent 4 running at 2.8 ghz
768 RAM (ddr) (upgraded)
mobility radeon 7500
Hitachi_dk23ea-30 (original hd)
monitor unknown
everything else is standard, and left alone. Oh and if you think to say use the original drivers disk, i have but to no avail. The upgraded monitor kinda messed up all that.
any help you guys have on this would be great. I am currently about this close to just scrapping this thing.
