resolution problem

i have an inspiron 6000 media center edition and the native resolution is 1680 x 1050. it makes everything a little too small, although i like that it can show more. the problem with lowering the resolution to the next available size down, 1280 x 800, is that everything becomes a little too blurry and way too large.

any other options?

right click on your desktop properties->Appearance->Effects..., check Use large icons.
return back to Appearance->Advanced, select Icons, you can change icon font size.

its not a bad idea if that were the only problem (icons)... but its everything... ive tried increasing dpi, etc... but none of them fix the problem perfectly. its not even a problem really. its just there is no way to get the resolution to look the way i liked it which was my earlier 6000, with a weaker screen. go figure.

Changing from the LCD native resolution will result in blurry images.  See this for tweaks:
