Same problem

As I wanted to free up a USB slot, I installed a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse.

My XPS 13 no longer recognises that an external mouse is present; and so will not disable the TrackPad (not that the disabling worked properly anyway)

Is a solution coming ?  Please.

    Hi davidxthompson,

The utility installed on your system to disable the touchpad when a USB mouse is connected is known as Cypress touchpad software. This feature is designed to work with a USB mouse only.

Another way to disable the touchpad is by pressing + or F3 key only.

In case you are missing the touchpad driver for your computer, you can go ahead and update the latest drivers from the link below:-

    www.dell.com/.../xps-13-l321x

    Download Instructions:

    • Click on the ‘Download File’ option.

    • Once the download is complete click on the ‘Continue’ option

    • In the ‘Select the folder’ option where you want to unzip the files window, click on Ok.

    • If message appears asking to create a folder, click ‘Yes’ and if you get a message asking to overwrite the folder, click ‘Yes to all’.

    • In the option ‘All files were successfully unzipped window”, click Ok.

    • A new window will appear, follow the prompts that appear to finish the installation.

Once the drivers are installed, please restart your computer and see if it works for you.

Keep me posted with the results.

    Glad to assist you.
