I would say it suxs too. I thought a smart card security was something that the laptop came with. Something like if I remove the card, the laptop wouldn't power on or something. (Never had a smart card security)
And from a previous post I see it has the slot, but no software and no card. To me thats like "comes with windowsXP" Only to find out, its a 30-day trial and you need to buy the key.
This to me is not like asking for free dvds to play in the dvd player it comes with. Nor is like asking for a 129mb memory stick with a memory stick reader as at least with that you get the software to run it.

You can purchase a Smart Card from Raak Technologies.
You can find Raak on the web at www.raaktechnologies.com. Although we focus on enterprise customers, we are able to help individuals (who are part of a domain) that are looking for Smart Card solutions. If your enterprise is looking for a solution, Raak uses Smart Card technology to support Wireless LAN access, secure Web access, and remote VPN access.

*Please note: In order to use the default MS smart card logon, individual users will need to be on a domain and running a Certificate Authority (CA), in order to put a certificate on the card.
- You can do a search for "smart card(s)" within the forum. I lost the url to the thread but it did offer links to this company that has one-user solutions
http://www.txsystems.com/sphinx.html : More comprehensive solution
http://www.txsystems.com/txlogon.html : General logging in/out functions
Purchasing either with software and card(s) is $40. Cannot beat that. Glad someone made that information available on the boards.
