Unable to enter the BIOS

I would appreciate any help on a problem with my Dell Inspiron 8100.

After the blue Dell screen loads up, the screen goes blank and a single prompt is shown in the upper left hand corner of the screen.  The computer continues to run.

I am unable to enter the BIOS using F2, Esc, or F8. (prior to or during the Dell screen).

All other periphals (printer, digitial camera, etc) are unplugged.

I've tried inserting backup/reinstallation CDs and floppies.  The system tries to run the CD/Floppies, but just continues going.

Any suggestions?

As soon as you see the Dell BIOS splash screen hit the F2 function key. Don't just hit it once hit repeatedly. If that fails remove the hard drive and see if it comes up with No hard disk drive found hit F2 to enter setup.
