First time on one of these forums, so bear with me, we dipped a scratchy ink pen into a tiny well on the desk when I was a nipper...

I have installed a Fujifilm USB 2.0 flash drive on my WIndows 7 Studio 1558. Windows attempts to find drivers, fails to do so and does not recognise the memory stick. The memory works perfectly well on a WXP version desktop which does not try and search for drivers which are not needed.

I found this thread posted by Sanduk a couple of years, so I suppose that thread is dead, back which offered a solution:

"When the "Install new hardware" comes up,  click on "manual", then  "specify location" and point it to

 c:\ windows \ system32

 Make sure the  'search subfolders' checkbox is checked.........

Let the system run through the installation (for flash drives it's four or five times as there are a few drivers)

Mine works fine now ........ flashdrives and mouse.   Looking forward to installing my printer and Dell Axim links (not!)

So I opened Device Manager - View Devices By Connection - right clicked on USB disk 2.0 under Generic USB Hub, and folowed Sanduk's advice, but at the conclusion of the process I received the message.

If the memory stick is plug and play why doea windows look for drivers?

Windows found driver device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. The system cannot find file specified.

Can anyone help?
