Monitor decision

Hi all,

I have a XPS 410 (6600 2.4Ghz), with a NVIDIA GE 7900 GS card.   I currently have a 2007fp monitor and I am very happy with it.

I am now in the market for a second monitor, and would ideally like the second monitor to be identical, however I note that the 2007fp is almost $500, whereas the newer 2208wfp is going for $298 (and it has mixed reviews).   My question is, why is the 2007fp an older but much more expensive monitor, yet the newer and larger wide screen version is half the price...... is there a build quality or build components issue that I am missing?   Which one should I buy (I am a all round user i.e. some work (all the ms office stuff + some fx trading), some games, on-line shopping, family pictures galore, soon a new camcorder etc.)?

Thanks in advance for the advice before I buy, and please allow me to wish all who may read my message a very Happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

    xpsnewbie,

There are big differences. The easiest way to see the difference between the 2007WFP S-IPS monitor and the TN-Film monitors is to look here. Under Step 3, choose Viewing angles.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the fast reply.   Can I assume that the 2007FP and the 2007WFP are the same (except of course one is widescreen).......and that the 2208WFP and the E228WFP in the comparison you referred me to?   If that is the case, then it looks like I should buy another 2007FP.   Please confirm my assumptions about your reply before I get my credit card out.

    Thanks in advance

    xpsnewbie,

    Agreed. Look for another 2007FP.
