U2410 not waking from sleep

Hi All,

Seems to be a common problem, but I haven't been able to find a definitive solution...

When I power-off my PC, usually the monitor goes into sleep mode - the blue light changes to orange.

But sometimes the monitor light stays blue.  When that happens, when I turn on my PC, the monitor doesn't wake up - even though its blue light is on.

I have to either switch the monitor off at the wall, or else pull out the VGA cable, and put it back in.

Then it works fine - until the next time.

My PC is running XP, with integrated graphics.  I was given the U2410f recently, must be a couple of years old - but I never had this problem with my older, cheapo monitor.

    Hi raleigh48,

The Dell U2410M monitor has a built-in diagnostic tool that allows you to determine whether the screen abnormality is due to an inherent problem in your monitor, or due to a problem in the computer and video card.

The following are the steps for running the built-in diagnostics tool:

    1. Ensure that the screen is clean—the screen surface should be free from dust particles.
    2. Unplug the video cable(s) from the rear side of the computer or monitor. The monitor, then, goes into the self-test mode.
    3. Press and hold the 1st and 4th buttons on the front panel, simultaneously, for 2 seconds. A gray screen appears.
    4. Carefully check the screen for abnormalities.
    5. Press the 4th button on the front panel, again. The color of the screen changes to red.
    6. Check the display for any abnormalities.
    7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the green, blue, and white colors on the screen.

The test is complete when the white screen appears. You can close the built-in diagnostic tool by pressing the 4th button, again. If you do not detect any screen abnormalities by using the built-in diagnostic tool, please reset the monitor to factory defaults using the monitor’s “On screen display” menu.

    1. Touch the menu button on the monitor to launch the OSD menu.
    2. Using the up/down arrows buttons and select “Other settings “.
    3. Use the up/down arrows buttons and select “Factory reset”.
    4. After monitor is set to factory reset, connect the VGA cable to the computer and monitor.

Check the functionality of the monitor and reply with results.
