DDBoost, NEtworker 8.1 and Mtree replication

Hi,

I'm trying a new trick today: Mtree replication. We are making clone controlled replication but the idea is the following:

  1. In Data Domain Management Center (nice tool), we get many more info on automated replication as on demand replication (as clone controlled) as the Lag between source an destination
  2. Why not running both mode of replication together? If a block done by the cloned controlled replication is copied by the mtree replication, it  will not be writed on the destination DD. reverse cas is also thru (or do i make a mistake here?)
  3. In Fact, Mtree replication will do the copy. Clone controlled replication is just here to update the media database. To make Networker aware of these copies.

But til now my replication test is not working. It stay as uninitialized state.

Is it possible to do that?

Thanks all for your help.

Greg

CCR is supposed to give you backup application aware replication and with mtree you won't get that.  Mixing replication for the same data is not something how things are designed to be so I would not dare to play with approach you are attempting (apart I see no benefit neither).

From the DD admin guide :

A subdirectory that is under a source directory in a replication

context cannot be used in another directory replication context.

A directory can be in only one context at a time.

    Hi Crazyrov,

I'm agree with you. But in my case the source directory is not in two replication context (from DD point of view).

The controlled clone replication doesn't know anything about Mtree, it's just using Networker device.

    Thanks
