LL002050 - NetWorker Virtual Tape Library Option
Hi,
I have found almost nothing about the new licenses, so a few questions remain:
1) What's really in the package? unlimited slots?
< lic. based on RAW capacity, if I understand Hrovje correctly >
1a) How will this fit with the usual COD-VTLs, aka DataDomain and the like?
RAW as well ???
2) Will I need a VTL option for EVERY physical / virtual VTL regardless of the manufacturer (EMC CDL, REO, Sepaton, plain FalconStor, other) ?
3) Will an old AutoChanger lic. work as well, asuming the slot numbers are correct?
Thanks -Gaddy-

This is more for sales, but my guess is that raw capacity goes for native disk space.

I don't this this applies to DD at all.

Good question, but I assume yes.
the slot numbers are correct?
In 7.4 there are some changes in licensing (at least that is planned) and from what I have seen that would be the first version to enforce VTL license. If VTL license is replacing old autochanger license, then you won't be able to use it. For that NW must be able to recognize your VTL to be VTL (eg. in my case when it comes to CDL inquire correctly reports virtual drives instead of physical ones as earlier NW versions). So, assumption is you will have period to sort out your licenses. However that is simply guess and sales should know exactly the answer (perhaps someone from EMC here can comment that).
