today I tried to setup a PowerConnect 2848 switch in a configuration which I believe is not that uncommon.
I would like to have 3 Vlan's on it, which do not need to communicate directly.
ports 1-6 and 47-48 should be in vlan 3 ports 7-8 in vlan 4 ports 9-44 in vlan 2 ports 45-46 would be left in the default vlan 1
I tried several configurations, but non of them were OK, If there was contact to the members of the same vlan, than all traffic passed through the default. Or otherwise, there was no contact between members of the same vlan. Can somebody explain to me what is the right configuration to obtain this ? (ports tagged, untagged , forbidden, PVID, authentication, Admit Tagged Only ?)

2724:
- VLAN Membership page (this sets the vlans that can be transmitted by the port)
o create vlan 3
o add ports 47-48 as Utagged (U) to vlan 3
o create vlan 4
o add ports 7-8 as untagged (U) in vlan 4
o Create vlan 2
o add ports 9-44 as untagged (U) to vlan 2
o rest of the ports are in vlan 1 by default
- VLAN Port Settings (this sets the vlan classification for untagged received traffic)
o change ports 47-48 PVID to 3
o change ports 7-8 PVID to 4
o change ports 9-44 PVID to 2 (all untagged go to vlan 101)
o rest of ports PVIDs are 1 by default
Tagged traffic is used when passing multiple vlans on an interface (typically switch to switch).
Forbidden is mainly applicable to dynamic vlan membership (not supported on this switch so do not mess with this setting)
'Admit Tagged Only' is used to prevent untagged traffic from being accepted on the port. (do not mess with this)
Authentication is related to 802.1x. This is way to restrict the network to only be used by authorized users.
