PowerConnect 62xx and default DNS server
Hi,
I've enabled the "DNS Status" setting for my PowerConnect 6248 (with the latest firmware version 3.x):
I've noticed that the PowerConnect can already resolve DNS domain names (e.g. I've managed to ping www.google.com, etc.) even if I didn't enter any "DNS Server" in the config yet.
I'm wondering what DNS Server is using to resolve the domain names then.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

It turned out that the switch was able to automatically find and use a Windows 2000 Server nameserver on the same network it was on, how did it do that? Did it scan all the systems on the LAN to see if there was a DNS server? I couldn't find anything about this in the documentation.
As soon as I moved the switch to different network with no nameservers on it, DNS resolution on it didn't work anymore and I had to explicitly specify the DNS servers to use in the switch config to get it back at work.
Thanks.
