I have an Inspiron e1505 purchased in Dec. 2006. I upgraded it from XP pro to Vista Business. Now I am trying to use Bluetooth for the first time to connect to a new cell phone. After much difficulty I thought I had it working. The Bluetooth control panel kept telling me that bluetooth wasn't installed, yet the device manager said it was working properly. I uninstalled Bluetooth in Device Manager, downloaded the newest Dell driver, and let Device Manager scan for hardware changes. I used to have one device listed under Bluetooth Radios, now I have two: Dell Truemobile 355 Bluetooth + EDR and Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator. Both are Enabled and "Working properly"

After that I was able to get the two devices to discover each other. The computer is listed as a Trusted Device on the phone. The phone "SAMMY" is shown on the computer's Bluetooth Devices...Devices tab.

However, when I open Computer and double-click on My Bluetooth Places, and then double-click on any of the icons on the right, I get a message "No local Bluetooth device was detected." At one time I also had a message that started with "Bluetooth license check failed."

Also, I have two BT icons in the Notification Area. One has a red symbol. I assume the red means trouble! Right-clicking on it brings up a menu that has an option "Enable Bluetooth Radio". If I click on that it tells me to use Fn-F2. However my blue BT LED next to the power button is on, as it always is, and if I use Fn-F2 it turns off Wi-Fi at the same time. Another option for the red BT icon is Advanced Configuration. It tells me the software is WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software 5.0.1.2609. The Diagnostics tab tells me that Bluetooth Device is Not Detected.

The other BT icon has a white symbol. This one looks OK and shows SAMMY.

Can anyone help?
