Hi,
I have had my Inspiron 9100 for about 15 months. I am running XP Pro and I have a hard wired home network connecting to the Broadcom 4400 ethernet connection. However, I may be travelling to areas that have wireless connectivity so I would like to make the 1350 functional. It came with the machine originally but I have never bothered with it.
I downloaded R102320.EXE which seemed to be the proper driver set for my location (Canada). I ran the setup and everything seems to proceed normally up to and including the necessary 'restart'.
However after the restart, I see no mention of the wireless adapter anywhere in control panel. I even run the 'Truemobile 1300 Client Utility' in control panel and up pops a window stating . In these forums I noticed that Fn - F2 is required to start and stop the adapter but it doesn't seem to do anything for me.
What am I missing here?
First check to see if the wireless network adapter is properly installed in your system. To do this, open Device Manager and expand the listing for network adapters. Does the wireless adapter show up there? Next, open Network Connections and see if you have a wireless network connection listed. If you do, then you probably all set to go. Of course if you don't have a wireless network to connect to, then you can't proceed any farther in testing the device.
Hi Volcano,
I have checked in Device Manager and no trace of the 1350 shows up. Also, there is no mention of a wireless network connection either. It seems that the adapter just isn't showing up.
I would expect that the device must be installed before I can use it on any wireless network wherever I travel.
Are you sure there is a 1350 Mini PCI card in the computer? Have you opened the Mini PCI slot cover to make sure the card is seated in the slot and the antenna connections are secure?
Hi,
Sorry for the delay...at work all day. I finally opened up my machine and re-seated the card. I also cleaned the contacts and checked to ensure the antenna connections were secure. The model is a Broadcom 1350 (BCM94306MPSG).
You might want to try a different version of the driver. Unfortunately, the Dell download site has become a nightmare. I used to be able to access all versions of the driver files on the download site. Now, I can't even find the driver you claimed to have downloaded, and almost invariably, the download site only brings up one version of the drivers (not only for the 1350 card, but for a wide variety of devices). Which download site are you using?
See if this driver -

Hey thanks,
I installed the prog that you linked me to....
It proceeded and said that it had installed the Dell Wireless WLAN adapter software and it had started the Dell Wireless WLAN adapter.
I thought all was good but I still can't find any mention of the adapter in Device Manager. Maybe it's working but I still don't know where to find any details.
Open Device Manager. Click on the + sign next to Network Adapters. Is the wireless adapter listed there? Open Network Connections (Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections) is the wireless network listed there?
Please be more specific. Is it in Device Manager after expanding the Network Adapter listing? Is it in Network Connections? I don't care about Control Panel.
