Okay, I'm getting frustrated. My internet connection has become slow and very intermitant lately. After calling my ISP, who suggested I make sure my Windows program is fully updated, and make sure my modem has the latest driver installed. I've come to the Dell site and found similar drivers, but nothing with my modem numbers. I'm not overly computer literate, so to be on the safe side, I've emailed their tech. support. My driver is Conexant HSF V.92 56K Data Fax PCI Modem Driver. After going back and forth with me receiving only form letters, they'd sent me to a location on the Dell site that would update Conexant/GVC V.92 Soft Data Fax Voice Modem for Windows. I'd contacted them back to make sure this was the correct one, as they weren't exactly the same. I'm now back to receiving form letters. I've got a service tag number that I was told would expedite any help I would need. After contacting the live help on the net, I was told that my service tag was for the business side, not the home user side. Then I'd tried calling them up directly, as now I'm quite frustrated. After jumping through hoops and getting to the right area, I'm told I need another number that is located on the back of my tower. I've got a bum back and I CAN'T GET BACK THERE. I must say, this Dell has worked beautifully, but I can't seem to get my dog gone simple question answered! Where do I find the correct driver to update my specific modem!!!!?????
Any help at this point would be better than the circles I've been running the past few days. Thanks
Thank you sooo much for the help! I'm downloading this file and will see what happens when I execute it. The Dell tech support email I'd recieved sent me this link, but when I'd asked for verification, they kept sending me form letters. I found that quite frustrating. I'm hoping, since you have also pointed me in this direction, this is the correct one. I appreciate your time and help!
Hi Cody, I'm hoping you will be around to answer another problem that has popped up. When I execute the file, it tells me "This self-extracing zip file is part of a multidisk zip file. Please insert the last disk of the set". Well, I've downloaded this from the internet. How do I install this driver?
Execution of the file works normally when I attempt to download and extract it. Try downloading the file again, and ensure there is ample space on your hard drive for the file to fully download.
If you still receive the error, ensure that your antivirus software is fully up-to-date, and perform a complete system scan. Once your system has been verified to be virus-free, disable any resident virus scanning (for example, Norton Autoprotect) temporarily, and try executing the driver package again.
Well Cody, all downloaded perfectly the second time, after I'd followed your instructions. It's too early to see if the new driver will help correct the problem I was having, but time will tell. It's the last thing on the list my ISP had me update to see if it fixes the problem. Thank you for your time and your help! I can't tell you how much I appreciated hearing from you. Thank you again!
