Sharing a connection

Hi,

I have a problem with sharing an ADSL connection on Win XP. When I tick the checkbox to share the connection and then apply, the system sends me back: "Error 2 : missing file".

Does someone have an idea ?

Thanks

    lbourlet,

It would be helpful to know what operating system you are dealing with, the configuration of your network and the PCs on it.  For now, try using Control Panel, Add/Remove Windows Components and remove ICS.  Then reboot and add it back in.

    Hi,

My system is  Win XP Home Edition. My connection uses an Alcatel SpeedTouch USB modem.

I've tried to remove the ICS component but I can't find it in the control Panel > Add remove win components.

    Thanks for your help.

    lbourlet,

In Win XP ICS is not a separately installable component.

Does the error message provide any additional information beyond "Error 2 : missing file."  Google and MSKB searches reveal nothing useful to troubleshoot this problem.  Are there any entries in the Event Viewer that provide any additional information?  The procedures here might provide some information.
