Hello, I have D520 Latitude Laptop. I want to avail the wireless Internet.
BUt when I go to avail that then its saying the driver is not installed. I have installed R117131 driver which I downloaded from the website of Dell, but still its showing that driver is not installed. I have XP installed in my lappy...
Did you recently reinstall Windows on the D520? If so, did you install the Notebook System Software and Chipset drivers before even attempting to install any other device drivers? Are you sure you are downloading the correct drivers for the wireless network adapter that is actually present in your computer?
The drivers you tried to install are for an Intel Wireless Network adapter. Are you sure you have an Intel adapter and not a Dell adapter? You have to know which model adapter you have so you can install the correct drivers. If you can't find your original system invoice that you received when you bought the computer, you can try going to the following site, entering your Service Tag number anc clicking on the Original Configuration tab. This will give you a rather cryptic list of the components installed on your system when it shipped, from which you may be able to figure out which wireless network adapter you have:
I had looked up at the link which you sent. Yeah I find that my laptop has this NF706 Dell Wireless(TM) 1390 (802.11 g) MiniPCI Card - No Intel(R) Logo Label wireless specification. Now please tell me which driver to install... Thanks in advance With regards Sandipan
As per my first reply, did you install the chipset drivers and notebook system software before even attempting to install other device drivers? What kind of problem is it showing? Could you be a bit more precise?
