Computer not starting up
Hi I have dell optiplex 7020 we had a power cut
and when I turned computer on the orange light just flashes to times then pauses if I take the ram out and put back in it starts but when you turn off it will not run just orange light
I have dell optiplex 7020 and the orange light flashes and not start up
Note: This comment was created from a merged conversation originally titled Optiplex 7020 Orange Lightif it were legacy 7020, first AID is to replace cmos battery w a new one then clear cmos by motherboard jumper
if it were 7020 circa 2023, perform a RTC reset: ensure the computer is turned off while still connected to AC power, then press and hold the power button for 25 seconds.
@redxps630 if I take the ram out and put it back it starts and runs fine when I shut down it has orange light flashing and will not start up this happened after a power cut

Hi
Please can you confirm the Make Model and OS, along with any configuration details like touch screen, backlit keyboard, SFF or tower etc etc.
I suggest a new CMOS coin cell, and a hard reset to hopefully get the ram in sync with the POST and BIOS info.
