Go to SolutionT640 server GPU adaptation issue
I installed two H100 GPUs on the T640 server, but during operation, the server automatically restarted and NVIDIA SMI was unable to display the GPU. When I reinserted the GPU, I could smell the burnt GPU after the server started. I would like to know the reason for this?
I have installed the heat dissipation kit and the power supply is 2000W. What caused the GPU to burn?

Hi,
T640 is not compatible with H100, and T640 is not capable to support H100's power consumption. T640 maximum support is only 300W but most H100 needs 350W minimum with a specific power cable. More over, T640 PCIe can only support up to Gen 3 card, whereas H100 is a Gen 5 PCIe or NVLINK card. I can't determine what can cause the GPU to malfunction.
