Hi All, really need opinion. Now i stuck at Bios. All disc detected as foreign. I try follow step to import foreign config but failed. Popup said Controller has data in cache for offline or missing virtual disk. If i proceed step to clear all cache, will it effect all my data insert all disk?
If there are any foreign configurations, it is strongly advised that you import the foreign configuration before you discard the preserved cache. Otherwise, you might lose data that belongs with the foreign configuration.
My server is Dell Poweredge 720. My Bios is Perc 710P.
My user complain they cannot access the file in shared folder. So i restart the server. Then server stuck at BIOS. Then enter the VD Mgmt. All hard disk state foreign. I try to import foreign config, but failed as mention in previous post. Is there any way to import or step for me to try without lost all my data?
What happens after you pressed any key to enter the configuration utility? Does it able to load into the system setup as shown in the screenshot?
It seems that there is preserved cache in RAID controller card, therefore you will need to clear the preserved cache before you can import foreign. Do you have data back up for the server? Usually preserved cache contains data which are in the midst of being written to the disk before any issue happens during data writing. There is an option to clear preserved cache, but if you are not comfortable of clearing cache, I would advice you to seek professional data recovery company in your region to retrieve your important data. Dell do not have any data recover service, unfortunately.

What is the model of server? Why hard drives are in foreign status? Did you reseat them or replaced before?
Please ask me if you have any questions,
Maria Januszka
