R7615 + E3.S SSD
I am trying to spec up a PowerEdge R7615
I can not find a way to specify E3.S SSDs.
Can somebody confirm the situation, or what is required? According to the R7615 Internal Storage Configuration Matrix, from the technical guide, the 12x3.5" chassis will allow me to choose rear storage - and it does. I presume I then have to choose the 4*2.5 rear storage? but if I do this, I am forced to buy a vSAS, SAS, or SATA SSD to go in one of those rear bays. I just want to be able to use E3.S drives in the rear. I will buy the drives at a later date.

Hello cssnetworks,
You may have a point. I see:
E3.x can be E3.S, E3.S 2T, E3.L or E3.L 2T which are the four different types of E3 Drives.
The E3 Drives used for 16G PowerEdge Servers are E3.S with the max power of 25 W.
I would still recommend contacting Sales to see why you can't configure it.

Hi Charles. Are you pointing-out that the 7615 says 'E3', while it is the 7625 that says 'E3.S' ? If so, I think this is just a difference in writing style/detail on the spec sheet.
My understanding is that there is 'E3.S' which is short in length, and 'E3.L' which is long. There is no 'E3-nothing'.

The configuration tool is a Sales tool. I would recommend to contact Sales and they can help with using the tool.
