Floppy support - PowerEdge designed for Win2003?
Please tell me how is it possible that PowerEdge is designed for Win2003 but in fact doesnt support use of USB floppy drive in the installation proccess? No pls dont tell me to use OpenManage bood CD I dont like the way how DELL install OS with this utility and there are some other problems. So pls try to help me DELL specialist, cause they were unable to help on online support.
We have too new DELL servers - PE1950 and PE2950 without internal floppy drives - but with USB flopy.
I have problem :
1.) to install PERC drivers when use F6 - it doesnt detect the floppy drive
I think there will be problem:
2.) to restore system using ASR (F2) - it will not detect the floppy drive
3.) to make unatended deployment using answer file
Im realy confused after hours of trying. Why DELL sell things that doesnt support basic installation proccess and forces us to use their utilities.

I just read that post and what he stated is correct: USB Keys are not supported.
USB Floppies are supported and should work fine. You are having some other issue. It could just be the USB floppy - I have seen several that just don't work properly.
thx for reply but Im not saying I have problem to boot form USB floppy (im booting form windows2003 CD anyway). I have (windows setup have) problem to detect and read from it during the setup.

It's the overlapping problem of the Virtual floppy and the real one.
What we did - just disabled virtual devices in the web interface of the Remote Access Card which should be in your server too.
If you will need a virtual devices - just enable them back.

The USB floppy IS supported and will work to load the OS and for ASR. Just make sure that you go into the BIOS (F2) and move the floppy drive to the top of the Boot Sequence.
If you want to load the OS from CD Media without the Dell ISM CD then try out NLite to integrate the drivers into the OS media.
