AIO Printer Question

I recently had to replace my printer and selected a Canon PIXMA MP600 for home use. I also purchased a bluetooth device to allow for wireless printing. I elected not to use a router since I already have one in my home and it is maxed out with my kids computers.
My question is; since my AIO has a scanner, is there anyway I can scan documents from the printer to the computer without using a USB cable or a router? If I can only use a router is there one that will enable more than 4 devices to be used at once. Remember I'm talking about home computing. Any suggestions are welcome.

Your present router will support 4 ethernet connections and up to 256 wireless connections, when properly configured. I personally do not own a multi-functional printer. However, my experience with this forum is that those who do own them, have little success in getting them to perform the Scan feature wirelessly.
