We have a W5300 in my area that we're testing. When I hooked it up I was able to change things like the IP address, etc. with no problem. However, it won't pick up the correct network speed. We have all our ports set to 100Full; the network connection insists on connecting at 100Half. Our HP printers have a setting that let us either autodetect or force connection at a specific speed and duplex. Is there something with the W5300 I can do to turn off the autodetect and force it to use 100Full?
First I am wondering why it is an issue, the printer is capable of running full speed with a parallel or USB cable, (Both less than 1 Megabit transfer rate), so the pipe even at 100 half is huge and the printer should print at full speed at 100/half..
Yes it can be set. To hard code the network speed, go to network menu, Standard Network, STD Net Setup.. Hold GO and press left arrow to access the SE menu.
Once in the SE menu go to MAC and set the card speed.
Thanks for the info. The issue isn't the pipe speed, but the fact that we have all our ports on our switches set for 100full. If the printer is talking at 100half, it means there are a lot of retransmits, etc., which we'd like to keep off our network.
