How do I reset the network settings in a Dell 1700 printer?
I am trying to put a Dell 1700 printer on to my network.
Turn it on, pluged in the network cable and it came back with a valid IP address.
DHCP was enbabled
Used the IP address in my IE browser to change the IP address and rename
the printer and also disable the dhcp featrue.
Well I missed something....
Now I have an ip address of 169.254.1.5, which I can not connect to. Nor is
DHCP enable and there 0.0.0.0 for a gateway setting. Not what I wanted.
Can anyone help me in resetting the network setting and re-enabling DHCP?
Couldn't find any help within the manuel.

- Steve911, thanks a bunch. Loaded the printer locally using the USB connection.Noticed through the installation that there was a TCP/IP Set Up utility.Put the printer on the network, ran the IP utility it found the MAC address and BAM!I'm off and run. Thanks for the nudge.

Dell might not tell you this, but this is a re-branded lexmark 1700 and here's how to reset to the factoty defaults without connecting via USB:
You must turn off the printer. Open the front door (as if you're going to change the toner) and then turn on with both the "continue" and "cancel" buttons pressed down and wait for the "ERROR" light to come on. Then you must close front door and turn off the printer. When you turn it on again, you have the printer with "factory defaults".......

Matt- I, too, lost the CD and looked quite stupid when it came time to move one of our 1710n printers and I had no ability to reconfigure it for networked mode.
Big thanks to the poster who published the reset procedure. I was able to use that procedure, then connect a local laptop via x-over cable, then configure the printer through the web interface.

Have you tried connecting to it using the USB cable/drivers and resetting it?
