New C2660dn printing wrong font when using PCL driver
I just installed a new C2660dn printer after I had some issues with my 1320c and decided to replace it. Everything seemed OK until I printed out some emails that used arial font. The font that came out on the paper was not how it should be, it was extra bold – so much so that some of the letters merged, and some of the font seemed italic when it should not have been.
Then I created a word document with:-
12 point arial
12 point italic arial
12 point bold arial
12 point bold italic arial
When I printed it out this is what I saw:
12 point arial ( bold italic)
12 point italic arial
12 point bold arial
12 point bold italic arial
Then I changed to PS driver and it comes out fine, just as you would expect it to.
So next I changed the document to add another 4 lines using Times New Roman for the newly added text and reprinted using PCL. The standard weight arial font was extra bold again but all the Times New Roman was perfect. Reprinted using PS driver and again everything was normal. So it would seem that I have a problem printing normal weight arial fonts with the PCL driver, it’s almost like it’s printing the standard weight font with a different font as the 1 is noticeably different in shape.
System is XPpro 32 bit but I’ve tried it on a win 8.1 64 bit machine and it does the same.
Has anyone else seen something like this? Thanks in advance for any ideas…
