I have a inspiron 1720 vista home premium and no matter what I try Quickset won't work.
It always says system not supported even when I dowload the vista quickset softwhere even the driver CD that I got with my computer won't install it would someone help me.
Hi, i had the same problem with QuickSet on my System (XPS 1710, Vista32 Ultimate SP1), too.
I recognized that some of the [Fn][Fx]-Keycommands didn't work.
So i wanted to reinstall QuickSet, but nothing worked: I couldn't Change, reinstall or uninstall it.
After hours i found out, that there was something wrong with Windows Installer. So here is the Way i fixed it.
1. Run regedit (Just type regedit into the search-console in the startmenu) 2. Go to the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\msiserver 3. Right click on this key(folder) and select "Export" and save the key to a Flash Drive or other partition. 4. Run sfc /scannow (search-console) and wait. Do not reboot when complete. 5. Double click the saved/exported .reg file from working machine and import registry settings. 6. Now reboot and try to uninstall QuickSet.
After i did this everything worked fine. Hope it helps you, too.
I found out, that this problem occurred, because i blocked the process wmiprvse.exe.
This process uses about 20% of CPU-performance and i wanted to get rid of it.
So now i've solved the QuickSet problem but the performance-problem is still there.
I would like to know if you found a way to get rid of that problem ? I've tried what you said but it doesn't work on my computer, maybe because i previously deleted manually all files and registry keys of Quickset. Right now, I can't intall, re-install or even delete Quickset entry from the uninstall program list, I always get the same error: "This is not a supported system", I even tried in safe mode but it doesn't work.
I am running Vista 32bits SP1, wmiprvse.exe is using 15-20% of my cpu, I've tried to scan my computer with several virus scanners but I haven't been able to solve my problem so far.
Being abroad, I cannot format my computer (which I would have done being home) so I would like to know If there is another possible way to solve this problem ?
im runing the same mahine as you .. and quick set works .. but it uses about 30% - 40% or my cpu when opened .. cant get it to work without taking all that usage .. i just stoped using it .. but yea if any 1 has a way to fix this let us all know !!!! A.S.AP !!

Did you go to control panel, add/remove programs and un-install QuickSet from there?
Restart your computer.
Download and install the latest version from here.
