Cable/Sat HD boxes and dell projector

Hi
Is anyone here hooking up their dell projector(newer models like 3200, 3300, 3400 MP) to their cable/sat HD boxes(tuners) via dvi/hdmi cables, any luck in getting anything out of these projectors display anything else than MODE not supported for true 720p, 1080i resolution?

Most business projectors (including all the Dell models that you mention) are not really setup to handle HD over the DVI link.  With exception of the 5100MP, they do not have HDMI connectors, so you have to use a DVI/HDMI adapter, but the real issue is that if you read the supported timings carefully for DVI inputs, the max supported DVI timing is 1024 x 768 @ 60 Hz.

Also, the std DVI links do not support HDCP which can be an issue when trying to view true HD over DVI/HDMI.   Again, the 5100MP is the exception in that it DOES support HDMI w/ HDCP.

The projectors do a great job on HD signals via the COMPONENT video cables using 720p and 1080i signals.

Thats true, but many(most) projectors manfacturers have HDCP on dvi ports, why is dell so behind, the 3300MP/3400MP only has one M1-DA connector, so if someone need to hook up a pc via dvi and a cable sat box(via componenet), there is not much he can do...

Is this connecting from your 3400 projector directly into your cable box?

Which cable is this that you are using?

Did you get this cable through Dell or elsewhere?

Sorry for the barrage of questions!

    mark.

Hi Currently you can only use Dell's M1-DA to component video cable to hook up any of those HD sat/cable boxes, I even tried the Toshiba HD-DVD player, only component analog works.
