Lost password Remote Console Software 2161DS-2
Hi everybody
I face a serious problem with my 2161DS-2:
If I connect via the serial port, I have no problem accessing the system; BUT:
I cannot connect via the Remote Console Software, as I have forgotten the password to login. I tried everything in my mind - but failed.
How can I reset the password for the console software? I only found hints about the serial password... :-(

- Try Admin as the user with a capital A and no password. If that doesn't work you will need to select the "restore factory defaults" option in the serial port which will wipe out your switch as if it was straight out of the box. You will lose all network settings and username/password list for the RCS database. After completing the restore try againt he defualt Admin as username with no password.

Have you tried resetting the passwords or conifguration using the serial port?
Log in and check the settings.
I don't know anything about the 2161 but it seems if you can get in one way you might be able to fix the other.
