CORRUPT FILE -PLEASE HELP

MY COMPUTER CRASHED AND I HAVE A MESSAGE THAT I CAN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR BY STARTING WINDOWS SETUP FROM THE ORIGINAL SET UP CD-ROM.  I INSERTED THE ORIGINAL WINDOWS XP DISK BUT IT DIDN'T DO ANY GOOD.  ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN GET INTO WINDOWS SETUP.  - SORRY I'M SO IGNORANT BUT I'M OLDER & NEVER HAD COMPUTER LESSONS SO THIS IS "GREEK TO ME"   THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP.

    Turn computer all the way off.  Turn back on, and while Dell logo is on screen tap F2 to go into bios, You will need to change the boot device to CD first, then hard disk.  That way, the computer will try to boot from the CD and not the hard disk, which will take you back to where you started.  If you reply here give your computer model.  There are lots of posts in the XP forum about all of this.
