D610 D600 image issue
I am currently trying to port our image from a D600, which also works on a X300, GX270, GX280 and various other dell and IBM equipement to a Dell D610. I am running into an issue where it will lockup either when the XP loading screen is up for about 6 seconds, or when actually trying to enable the wireless card (FN-F2). Any help whould be greatly appriciated! We also have issues when trying to port a build that was made on a D610 to the GX280, but it works on the GX270???

Also, using the Ubiboot program, I was able to create a quick image on the D610 and transport it to the GX280, but not the GX150, which has a much older chipset.

What are you using for your image creation? Sysprep and Ghost? I will post here if I see any progress on my end.

Kewl thanks - as a lark, I reimaged the D610 with a Windows 2000 SP4 image (that image works on all the models I listed in a previous posting) - so far it is working...weird. I am wondering whether XP's IDE drivers are the problem now....
EDIT: Spoke too soon - Win2K image failed after updating drivers...

Well, we got our D410 in and sure enough, our base laptop image (with the drivers added) worked just fine. So it's JUST the D610 that appears to be having this problem.I wouldn't count on answers coming from Dell though, I spent an hour and fifteen minutes on the line with 'Gold' Support only to be told "I'd love to help you more, but we don't support problems with Sysprep or anything like it. You need to call Microsoft."So apparently we're all in the wrong spot, we all need to be bugging Microsoft, not Dell.NyQuil_Kid

Thanks for the continued input; on my end I was able to get a D610 image (newly made WinXP) and transport it to a GX280. The GX270 and GX260 should work (will be testing that later on), but the GX150 would not boot past the BIOS post (no hardware issues with the GX150, as I was able to boot it normally using a pre-D610 image).

Hi all:
Just an FYI but the new Dell BIOS version A03 solved my problem; hopefully the same results will be experienced by all who posted here.
[8F] The NyQuil Kid- I would agree that the A03 BIOS is a must. The A02 BIOS laptops would not boot using our image developed on a D600, even after modifying the sysprep.inf with the newer drivers. Once we put the A03 BIOS on the laptops it worked without any problems. I'm glad our shipment was delayed 2 weeks or this would have been unneeded frustration. I'm very happy for the fix, but I have to question why was this not caught in testing?

I posted this in the Latitude/General Harware forum, but I have having a very similar issue:
I currently use "Ubiboot" from Qualystem, Inc (http://www.qualystem.com/en/ubiboot.html). Using this software, I have one image for the following models:
GX150
GX400
GX240
GX260
GX270
GX280
D600 Latitude
I just received a new D610 and when I tried to reimage it (we use Novell's ZENWorks), it boots up normally, but upon doing a search for new hardware _always_ freezes at "IDE Channel". I have emailed Ubiboot support just in case, but I noticed your posting and at least can conclude to some degree I am not the only one running into this issue. The whole point about the Ubiboot program is that creating new images isn't needed when new hardware is introduced.
I am going to try another D610 I received just to make sure the problem isn't isolated to one machine.
