Unable to start EMC Host interface service
The EMC Host Interface agent service is not starting. Below is the screenshot.

we are at SRM version 4.1.1 and the EHI version is 1.4.1.0.294. They were installed cleanly. We don't want to reinstall the agent. For Production this is difficult.

The Version you are using should be fine
Are you using local auth or ldap?
Are you seeing errors in the logs?
Take a look at the following KB's:

If neither KB helps, your best bet would be to open a Service Request and we can take a look at the logs

What version of VIPR SRM & EHI are you at?
If you are at the latest version of SRM, I would upgrade( uninstall old version first) to the latest version of EHI.
You can get that at:

Have you tried to uninstall EHI cleanly and than reinstall EHI?
