I have no idea.  But I had a Gateway computer that did the same thing and Gateway never stood behind the product.  Dell, I'm sure will fix the system, whatever the cause.  I wish I had more experience on this subject but to be honest, with my limited knowledge, it doesn't sound good.  But like I said, you shouldn't worry because Dell will stick behind their product.  Good luck,

In order for anyone to be of any help whatsoever we need some information:

I got a blue screen with a bunch of words and at the bottom said something about memory dump and then my computer shut down

What did the " Bunch of Words " say? Anything we say at this point to help would only be guessing and speculation.

Diane What was the most recent thing you installed (or ran)? Are you able to use the F8 key when rebooting to reach the options menu? If so, is there a choice for "Last known good configuration that worked"? Choose that if you can get to it.

Guessing and speculation at its finest.

Booting in the last known configuration even if it works will leave them in the same boat. With no idea what caused the problem.

Post the error message when it happens again, and we will see if we can get a good answer.

Also, here is a little more info to research the error-----------

The next time the system fails, instead of rebooting, it will give a blue screen with info about the failure and a stop code (i.e., stop 0x000000xxx).

You can then do a Google search for more info on the exact problem.  (be sure to enter the stop code)

Also, send an error report every time Microsoft offers the option, and then in the "Thank you for reporting" box, if you click the More Info link, it lists some causes and possible solutions, if there are any available.

Your problem may also be listed in your Control Panel.  (Classic View)  Check under "Problem Reports and Solutions".  If your problem is listed there, at the bottom of the page you can choose to check on line for solutions.  Good luck,

    Hi,

Sorry you're still having the problem.  Okay, try this.  Copy the "0X000000d1 nmconpid.sys" and do a search of that on a search engine and see what you come up with.  If it points you in the direction of a problem with, say, your WIFI, etc., then you could try to uninstall your WIFI service (or whatever it indicates is causing the problem) and/or reinstall the drivers to the so called "bad" device.  Or you could just see if the drivers to the "bad" item are all updated.  Good luck and I hope this helps.
