AERO

I have a E1705 with a NVIDIA 7900 Go GS display driver. Aero Theme will not stay in place. Each Restart, Aero is there for a second and then reverts to Windows Classic or Standard Theme. If I change back to Aero, it works. Windows has just sent me an updated Display driver today. Prior to this, after turning Aero on, it would only last for a few minutes. The display would go wacky, and would revert to Classic or Standard Theme. Anyone else having this problem? 4.5 is my Windows Experience Index. Everything on this computer is supposed to support Aero. 2GB RAM, 54 GB hard drive space on an 80 GB hard drive.

Appears to be a driver issue.  How much dedicated video RAM do you have?

I'd look into the driver.  This is the 32 bit version.

Tried that also and I get an error message like most everyone else does, that you are not running vista on your computer and the install has been cancelled or it cant find a compatible driver and the install has been cancelled..Everyone gets the same errors. There are hundreds of posts on the NVIDIA site..

Get the driver from nVidia, not Microsoft.

If there are that many post on the nVidia site and they still can't figure it out, then it has to be a driver issue and youshould wait for some reosultion from them.  Was this an upgrade on your part or did the machine come with Vista?

It is one month old. Came with Vista and the Video card, memory, etc were supposed to be Aero capable.

Well I have finally figured out how to get every driver to install..and I have the latest beta from NVidia, 7.15.11.5818. Still does the same thing. Someone else recommended removing everything from the start menu to see if that fixes it, but it does seem to switch back when I connect to the internet. Also going to pop out my wireless card and see if Aero works..Stay tuned!! hehe

Ok gang...it's Nero's InCD. I disabled everything and one by one launched the programs that startup when desktop loads. The second I started Nero InCD, which allows me to write to CD/DVDs, Aero went back to Windows basic. So I am going to email them.
