I am having serious issues booting from my xp media center disk provided by Dell with the purchase of my pc. I changed the boot order in BIOS to the cd drive and still nothing. I don't know what to do. Does anyone have an explanation?
I purchased the cpu just before the ctrl + F11 from Dell and Symantec was instated. The model is a Dimension 8400 and nothing will let me boot from this disk. The disk is valid for it opens fine when Windows is started. Should I erase my Service pack updates and see if I can boot the disk in Windows?
I've seen this problem before. Restart computer. Press F12 while the Dell logo is still on the screen. Use your arrow keys to highlight your CD (or DVD) drive as the boot device, and press Enter. If prompted to "Press any key to boot from CD", press any key. Note: Some systems with two CD/DVD drives will only boot from the primary drive. Rare, but it does happen. If your system has two IDE CDs (DVDs), the primary drive is the one on the end of the cable if the drives are jumpered for Cable Select (CS). I assume, of course, that your reinstallation media is a CD and not a DVD, and that you're putting it in the correct drive.
