Cannot Find/Display Page

I'm running Windows XP Home and IE 6.0.  I recently had problems with Norton Systemworks, so I bought a new copy (problems galore, but that's another story).

Don't know if this happened before or after the new installation, but when I try to run Live Update, or access the Symantec home page directly, I get the Page Cannot be Found or Displayed page.  Same thing when I go to the Norton page and click Support.

I've followed all the suggestions from Dell's KB on IE.  Also ran Spybot and checked removed files, but couldn't find anything related.  I've checked other similar sites and had no problems.

MS had an article which reported some problems after installing Hotfix Q332184, but it appears the only solution is to call them for some untested (?) Beta fix, since you have to call them to receive it.

Anyone have any ideas?  Sure seems funny this is only affecting the Symantec site/s.  Thanks for any help.

Dave

Denny.  Thanks so much to you and Cookie.  That took care of the problem entirely.  You guys are certainly smarter than Microsoft.    Yes, I did have Sasser problems, but ironically, they just happened last night, as to shutting down the system, etc.  MS does have a pretty good walk-through on getting rid of it, but no where on their site could I find this sneaky trick of the worm denying you access to virus software sites (checked McAfee's site and you can't get past the front page.

Again, thanks.  Next time I'll know to check here first.

Just a follow-up on this situation, FWIW----Turns out, while Cookie's host file editing work, the nasty little worm re-entered the information in the file after about 30 minutes.  Even though the MS check had given me a clean bill of health, and running the Norton CD, for a virus check, also said the system was clean, I learned later I still had a worm and several other viruses.

I took a chance and tried the MacAfee anti-virus.  It immediately found and zapped a worm.  Then, during the upgrade in the website, it directed me to a little program called Stinger.  Stinger, apparently, is designed for zapping worms, Trojon Horses, etc., when you're having problems with your software.

Maybe otheres, with more knowledge can comment on Stinger, but it certainly worked for me.
