These are two examples of the explorer crashes out of the 193 of them alltogether (Problem Reports and Soulutions). After each one of these crashes it says in the Problem report and solutions app that WerFault has crashed straight after that :S (Windows Problem Reporting)

It mensions explorer.exe is the problem signiture with the explorer crash mentioning the ntdll.dll in that.

Any help or fixes for this would be appreciated

Note:Explorer.exe has no reference to Internet Explorer as i have found on other forums saying it was.

Explorer.exe is Windows, not IE. Remove your service tag--that's not allowed here. It is not a 'system model' number. This might help you repair Windows: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

I'd like to point out that, thats my pc model (not my service tag if you looked ...) i just checked on dell support centre and it says my service tag and thats not it.

I tried every step on the website you gave me aswell and the disk would not work as vista was a free upgrade from dell and the disk does not work correctly with it. Ive contacted dell about this and said its not possible to get a new disk.

And i do not want to do a system restore as i have many licensed programmes on the pc which are on thier last license.

    blingdude,

I'm going to make a few suggestions here. Please don't take them as me chastising you because that's not my intention, they're just things that can help you out in situations like this in the future.

    1. When you start encountering software problems/errors please don't wait months to start troubleshooting & seeking solutions to them. The longer you delay the more possible easy fixes get taken away.

    2. Try not to be unwilling to attempt troubleshooting steps (such as system restore) that are presented to you. You're going to find that resolving software problems will sometimes require you to do things you may not want to do, the most drastic of which is to completely reinstall your operating system. By comparison, running a system restore which fixes the problem but results in you having to reinstall several applications is far less annoying.  :smileyhappy:

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, you may need to borrow someone's full or upgrade Vista CD in order to carry out the repair procedures you weren't able to with the disc you have. If you're a MSDN member then perhaps you can download a copy & burn the ISO yourself.

I meant you should post your computer model name, not part number or motherboard number. Sounds like you might have a Dimension XPS 410. The correct name helps us figure out how to answer. That link I gave you is only good for your original operating system disk. Sorry. I thought vista was your original operating system. BTW, PC Restore will not work on your upgraded computer.

I agree with the previous post...you should start looking into the issue right away. Do you remember what all you have done to the system or may have installed 3 months ago when this problem first started? If you did install something, that program could be causing an issue with the system. Another thing to try is to go to msconfig and select the 'Selective Startup' option with the 'Load System Services' and 'Load Startup Items' unchecked. Restart and use the computer for awhile to see if the problem still exists. If it doesn't, you'll have to do some troubleshooting to figure out what program or service is causing the problem.
