I'm very tempted to persist with Firefox but I'm niggled with it's inability to collapse one bookmark folder when I click on another(I have quite a few) in the same way IE does.
I don't know what you're running - XP / Vista / etc - but I called Dell Support the other day on an unrelated matter. They told me that IE7 was really for Vista and not XP. They recommended that I revert to IE6. I was a little doubtful that this was so and, as I use IE so infrequently, I let it drift.
I've not seen any other support for their ideas though.
Honestly, using Firefox instead of IE is a good thing however if you would like to use IE you will need to post more information such as what happens when you try to use it, do you get any errors? Most problems with IE are caused by spyware or browser hijacking software. My advice to you is to reset IE7 settings in the Internet Options panel.
BeTheReason is quite right, in your circumstances, Firefox is technically a workaround and it's a matter for yourself as to which browser you use.
I reply only to say that I have spoken with Dell support again, and they are categoric that IE7 will run and is OK with XP and that the previous advice regarding compatibility was faulty...

I only use IE7 when I have to (visiting Microsoft sites).
