Hello,

I've been having a problem that started two days ago and came out of the blue. I have an Inspiron 1525 running Vista Basic. It shut down, and when I rebooted, the bios loaded but then went to a gray screen with an arrow cursor. I tried rebooting several times to no avail. I finally did a system restore, and that worked . . . for awhile. Periodically, after I shut the computer down, the whole thing starts over and I have to do a system restore again. Does anyone have any ideas about what could be wrong? 

 

I'm not sure if this is a cause or just a symptom, but the Hibernate button has an exclamation point saying that it needs to load updates. When I try to put the computer into hibernate mode, it's starts updating then goes black. When I restart, it's the same gray screen with the cursor.
