I have a Dell 8600 Inspiron notebook.   I recently downloaded the latest version of the Java JRE software.  Whenever i tried to chat on some web sites however, i keep getting an error message which says Java applets failed.   As suggested on the Java help page, to fix the proxy configuration, i followed the instruction to let the JRE thru the web browser, enabled Java "plug-in control panel" and also cleared the web browser cache.  I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the Java software but no luck so far.  As i am not really a computer guy, i would appreciate it if anyone can give me info as to what i need to do.
