Intel 82801 GR Raid Controller

Has anyone found a way to get Vista to accept and install on the Intel Matrix 82801 GR Raid Controller? I have tried to load the latest drivers (from Dell & from Intel) during and after install to get the Raid0 to work (clean install) without any luck, its been 3 days of trying different things. I am using a flash drive to load the drivers during the install (drivers in the root directory finally made it load properly) but after they are loaded if i select a drive & hit next i get the message that windows couldn't verify the volume or something like that. I have also tried to install the drivers after Vista installation is complete to use the Intel software to migrate to Raid0 but i can't get them to take. Any ideas??? I am willing to try almost anything....

i think something is up with the drivers for those intel RAID controllers.. you may want to look at my recent post about my 410 and maybe google the subject vista+intel raid controller or something of the sort.. seems other people are having similar problems. i'm using RAID 0 and i can't even get vista to fully install, it hangs during install or flat out blue screens, regardless if i use vista's native driver or the latest one from intel.. bombs either way. very frustrating. lemme know if you find anything on the subject.

Are you also using the GR/GH Raid Controller drivers or one of the other ones?

I have the 82801 GR.GH Raid controller.  I installed Vista with no issues and without extra drivers during install.  Afterwords I installed the Intel inf update and the Storage manager from intel as well.

Vista is working fine.  I am however running ADHCI and not in Raid, but this shouldn't make a difference I don't think.

    mine is reported as:

Intel(R) 82801HH I/O controller hub (ICH8DH) SATA Controller found in RAID mode

using latest intel matrix drivers (6.2.1.1002)

crstacy: whether you're using RAID or not can certainly make a difference

    ChincX -

I will keep my eye out for the HH ICH8DH resolution during my searches...

    Crstacy-

I am currently up and running Vista as you are on the ADHCI drivers with no problems (other than a massive headache)... but that is a normal configuration of hard drives, ChincX and I are trying to configure our drives in a different way (either for speed or data protection) using the same intel hard drive controller which requires us to use different drivers.

    have a good one!
