Has anyone ran into the problem of the numlock turning off after logging in? The system is an Optiplex, is a member of a domain (Pro), and has SP-2 installed. In the bios the numlock is enabled and it does come on during the boot process and startup of Windows, but after the login, it turns off. I have tried to enable it, then log off thinking that this would save as a preference, but it did not.
Sorry about that, maybe I should learn to read, before I start typing...:smileyhappy:
Anyhow, what kind of keyboard do you have, is it a media style, or have programable keys? If so, then open that program and check for a numlock setting.
I don't recall a registry setting for the numlock, but then again, I do have a reading problem.
It is usually a BIOS setting, on reboot, hit F2 when the DELL logo screen appears. goto the BIOS section, and you should find a swith for numlock to be on at boot.
Start>
Run> type:
regedit and hit
OK. Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard click on Keyboard and in the right pane,
InitialKeyboardIndicators Value data should be 2 for Num Lock on.
Also:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard click on Keyboard in right pane,
InitialKeyboardIndicators Value date 2 for Num Lock on.
